Mace spray
All you have to do is turn on the news or open up a newspaper and see what is going on in the world. Crime is all around us, constantly, and the dreary headlines that pop up more and more frequently are a harsh reminder of that. When I was young, self-defense wasn't a big issue. It was safe enough for parents to let their children play freely in the neighborhood. Adults could leave doors unlocked at night. Jogging after the sun set wasn't even a concern. Nowadays, people need to be incredibly aware of their surroundings. Self-defense is being taught to younger children on a regular basis. Classes are offered in schools around the country, colleges as well, encouraging people to be safe and learn to defend themselves.
Mace spray, also referred to as pepper spray, is one of the most common methods of portable self-defense. Women are especially drawn to carrying it on them as a means of protection. Most mace spray that can be found and purchased, is in a small and light container that is easy to slide into a purse or slip into a pocket. Of course, keep in mind that just like all weapons can be, mace spray can be used against the intended user as well. An unprepared victim can have it wrestled out of their hand and find themselves being sprayed.
While having mace spray is legal in all of the fifty states, some townships and cities do have certain regulations when it comes to owning, purchasing and possessing it. Anyone under the age of 18 isn't even permitted to purchase mace spray. Many younger individuals do have it in their possession, having most likely been purchased for them by parents. It isn't a bad idea for teenagers to have mace spray on them. Of course, if you are a parent buying such a product for your teen, make sure that they are aware of the dangers and risks of having it. Make sure that they realize that mace is not something that should be played with or abused. Spraying mace at others when not threatened is something that can cause legal headaches and many issues.
The world is an uneasy place at times. There is a constant need for people of all ages to be aware of their surroundings. There is no definite age that crime specifically targets. Anyone who wants a means of protection and of feeling safe might want to consider having mace spray as a means of defense. If you have questions about having that in your possession, never hesitate to ask your local police department.
